ELF Vox Box

Disclaimer: All the products in this review was received from free from Influenster, however all opinions are my own.

Influenster is an online program where you participate in surveys and earn badges and in return you become eligible  for vox box which are filled with different full size products that companies send for free so that participants can use them and review them. I absolutely love this online program and have gotten to try so many different products from them ranging from Covergirl to Kat Von D. This is the first time that ELF participated in a VoxBox and I was one of the recipients.

I have used ELF products in the past and there were a couple of items in this box that I have tired before. However, there were a couple products that I have not tired and I was super excited to try their skincare item. ELF recently came out with skincare products and I have been on the fence about trying them but I am glad that I finally got the chance to try it out.

The first item that I tired out was the Mineral Infused Face Primer. I had previously used an ELF primer which was a tone adjusting primer and I used the green one which I really liked. This primer I did not like as much as the other primer. It worked well as a basic primer but I find it did not really fill pores or do anything else besides keeping my makeup on for a longer period of time.

The Hydrating Bubble Mask was the product that I was most excited to try, as I love bubble masks. This one came with a nice pump, which I found it was a bit hard to get the product out. The mask smelled pretty nice, however the scent was not extremely overwhelming. The product was thinner compared to the other bubble mask that I have tired in the past. At first I did not expect much from the product since when I rubbed the bubbles down, the product just came off of my face. Surprisingly, once I removed all the product my face felt extremely soft. I have only used this product once, so I am not sure of the long term benefits of this product.

One of the items that I have tired before and actually own another color of is the ELF Matte Lip Color, the color that I got in the VoxBox was Wine and the other color I own in Praline. I did a full view of this product before and it can be found here, but I love the color Praline and I absolutely love the color Wine as well. They are easy to wear lippies and the only downside is that they do not last very long.

The top color is Wine; The bottom color is Praline.

The lip exfoliating scrub is one that I have always wanted to try out but never manage to get my hands on it. However, I never saw this type of lip exfoliating scrub, it was a mint flavored one. My lips have always been dry and I find it extremely tedious to constantly put on layers and layers of lip balm. I really enjoyed this scrub, it easily removed all the dead skin from my lips and the mint flavor added a tingly sensation. After using this product my lip felt extremely smooth and soft.

The next item in the box was a bronzer and highlighter duo. I was extremely excited to try out this product since I am a huge fan of both bronzers and highlighters, however I do feel disappointed. The highlighter shade is pretty and does provide a nice glow. On the other hand, the bronzer is extremely disappointing, the shade was not very  pigmented and it took about seven swipes before I was able to swatch it decently on my arm. There were also sparkles in the bronzer shade which I am not a fan of at all. I will likely continue to use this product but only for the highlighting shade.

Overall, I am extremely glad that I got to try out this box and see some of the new products that ELF has released. Definitely check out Influester if you have not already!

Here is card which describes all the products that are in this months box. I see a lot of candy and gum in this box (which I am not too excited for, especially since I prefer salty snacks over sweet ones.)

These were all the products that were in my box for this month. I am super excited to try Jagabee lightly salted potato crisps, since it is Calbee and I love Calbee snacks. I’m not too fond of all the gum samples in this box though, since I am not a fan of chewing gum. Overall, this box was just alright, nothing too special, I preferred the previous boxes more.

[Unboxing] Walmart Winter 2014

So Walmart recently came out with beauty boxes. They are seasonal boxes, with random sample/full size beauty items for only $5 per box. This is the second box that I have ever gotten from them.

This is what the boxes look like.

I was super excited to open the Winter Box, since for only $5 I find that these boxes are extremely worth it!

Here is what I got in my box. I was watching Eleventhgorgeous‘s video about this beauty box and they actually got different items than me. So I there there is more than one box out there, but this is what I got in my box.

10877817_10204146893764948_192231033_n

The first item was this Olay travel size makeup remover sheets. I actually have tired these sheets and I absolutely love them and I am always excited for travel size items, since they are so easy to throw into my bag and I can easily carry them around anywhere.

Then I got these two bottles of L’oreal Paris shampoo and conditioner. For sample sizes, these bottles were pretty big, they are about twice as large as the usual sample bottles I get. I am excited to try them since they are sulfate-free.

Next item was a sample size bottle of Jergen’s body lotion. This item was my least favorite item in the whole box, since I am not a fan of lotions, but I guess it would be a good item to put in my bag and bring it everywhere with me.

My final item was a Maybelline Color Senstation’s lipstick from their Buff’s collection in the shade Maple Kiss. It is an neutral looking lipstick and I am excited to try it out.

Overall, I am pretty happy with my box and even though I got mostly sample sized products, the products themselves were great and the box is only $5. I love how they were products that I would actually use. My problem with beauty boxes is that sometimes they are full of items that I do not find myself using, however this box has items that I know I will be reaching for!

[Unboxing] Skoshbox December 2014 Review

Today, I’m going to be doing a different kind of review. Instead of doing a makeup review post, I’ll be doing a review on a subscription box;Skoshbox. Skoshbox is monthly Japanese candy subscription box for $12/month. I recently received this box just in time for finals week!

How the box looked like when I recieved it.
How the box looked like when I recieved it.

The box was a lot smaller than I expected it to be. However I was extremely excited to see what was inside because who doesn’t want tasty snacks especially during Finals week.

This is what it looks like when I first opened it.
This is what it looks like when I first opened it.

I love the packaging and the box, the design is extremely simple but yet it is super clean and sleek looking. They also have a flyer on the top which lists all the product that is in the box for this month.

All the goodies for the month!
All the goodies for the month!

Once I open the package, I found all my goodies. Everything is tightly put together. They are all sample sizes in order to give you a taste of what they are like. You can buy the full size snacks on their website.

10822678_10204040142376230_834036455_n

These are all the goodies for the month of December. I am extremely looking forward to try the Pretz snack since it is called Caramel Pie Pretz. I tired the potato ring snack and it was delicious and I cannot wait to try more of the snacks.

Pros:

  • Extremely neat packaging
  • The snacks are really tasty and interesting
  • Most of the snacks are not easily available
  • Delivered to your doorstep every single month

Cons:

  • A bit pricey for sample size products

Overall, I love my box of food goodies, and I think that I would continue to subscribe to this box, I love the different variety of snacks they provide (from sweets to salty) so I can fulfill any craving I have. Also, I love how the snacks are not easily available and this way I can try new snacks and see which ones I like before buying the full size.
