ELF Vox Box

Disclaimer: All the products in this review was received from free from Influenster, however all opinions are my own.

Influenster is an online program where you participate in surveys and earn badges and in return you become eligible  for vox box which are filled with different full size products that companies send for free so that participants can use them and review them. I absolutely love this online program and have gotten to try so many different products from them ranging from Covergirl to Kat Von D. This is the first time that ELF participated in a VoxBox and I was one of the recipients.

I have used ELF products in the past and there were a couple of items in this box that I have tired before. However, there were a couple products that I have not tired and I was super excited to try their skincare item. ELF recently came out with skincare products and I have been on the fence about trying them but I am glad that I finally got the chance to try it out.

The first item that I tired out was the Mineral Infused Face Primer. I had previously used an ELF primer which was a tone adjusting primer and I used the green one which I really liked. This primer I did not like as much as the other primer. It worked well as a basic primer but I find it did not really fill pores or do anything else besides keeping my makeup on for a longer period of time.

The Hydrating Bubble Mask was the product that I was most excited to try, as I love bubble masks. This one came with a nice pump, which I found it was a bit hard to get the product out. The mask smelled pretty nice, however the scent was not extremely overwhelming. The product was thinner compared to the other bubble mask that I have tired in the past. At first I did not expect much from the product since when I rubbed the bubbles down, the product just came off of my face. Surprisingly, once I removed all the product my face felt extremely soft. I have only used this product once, so I am not sure of the long term benefits of this product.

One of the items that I have tired before and actually own another color of is the ELF Matte Lip Color, the color that I got in the VoxBox was Wine and the other color I own in Praline. I did a full view of this product before and it can be found here, but I love the color Praline and I absolutely love the color Wine as well. They are easy to wear lippies and the only downside is that they do not last very long.

The top color is Wine; The bottom color is Praline.

The lip exfoliating scrub is one that I have always wanted to try out but never manage to get my hands on it. However, I never saw this type of lip exfoliating scrub, it was a mint flavored one. My lips have always been dry and I find it extremely tedious to constantly put on layers and layers of lip balm. I really enjoyed this scrub, it easily removed all the dead skin from my lips and the mint flavor added a tingly sensation. After using this product my lip felt extremely smooth and soft.

The next item in the box was a bronzer and highlighter duo. I was extremely excited to try out this product since I am a huge fan of both bronzers and highlighters, however I do feel disappointed. The highlighter shade is pretty and does provide a nice glow. On the other hand, the bronzer is extremely disappointing, the shade was not very  pigmented and it took about seven swipes before I was able to swatch it decently on my arm. There were also sparkles in the bronzer shade which I am not a fan of at all. I will likely continue to use this product but only for the highlighting shade.

Overall, I am extremely glad that I got to try out this box and see some of the new products that ELF has released. Definitely check out Influester if you have not already!

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Review

I love wearing lipsticks but I hate how they always smudge and smeared everywhere. Then liquid lipsticks came into the beauty world and they have completely changed the way I looked at regular lipsticks. One of the first brands that came out with liquid lipsticks has to be Colourpop, I remember seeing their Ultra Matte Lips all over Instagram last year and when I heard that the formula was transfer proof; I knew that I had to get some. I originally got three colors; Avenue, Tulle and Bumble (all three colors are on their best sellers list) and since then I have grown my collection to a total of five ultra matte liquid lipsticks from Colourpop.

I absolutely adore their packaging and how affordable these liquid lipsticks are, they are only $6 a tube and sometimes they have package deals so you can get them for $5. Their packaging is super sleek and photogenic. I love how the tubes are clear so you can see the color of the product from the packaging.

Colourpop has one of the biggest color ranges for liquid lipsticks on the market. They have the basic red, pinks, nudes as well as bold colors such as green, deep purple etc. Colourpop is constantly coming out with new colors so there is always something new to try. My favorite colors still has to be Avenue, Tulle and Bumble (the first three colors that I have ever own).

From top to bottom: Avenue, Bumble, Times Square, Tulle, Viper
  • Avenue is a deep red color with a bit of brown undertones. I find that this is a great color for those who do not like reds with orange undertones. This color is a great beginner deep red color since it is not super brown red but it does have some brown undertones.
  • Bumble is described as a dusty warm terracotta color and I think this is a lovely pink color that is not too neon and in your face. It is a warm pink color and it looks great on different skin tones.
  • Times Square is a muted pink beige shade. It has warm undertones and it looks a bit brighter in the tube than when actually applied. I have to say that it is a pretty nude color, more nude than I expected when I was looking at the tube.
  • Tulle is described as a dusty mauve burgundy and honestly I think that this color looks different on everyone. I have seen different swatches and the color constantly looks different depending on the lighting. Personally, I would describe it as a darker pink shade with some brown/purple undertones. I think that it is a very unique shade.
  • Viper is described as a dusty rose color and it looks more pink-red in the tube when I saw the images online but it looks more purple-pink in person.

Overall, the formula dries pretty quick and they do dry to a complete matte finish. The colors do transfer but it is very minimal. When I first put on the liquid lipstick, I do find that it is a bit sticky but after about 30 seconds to 1 minute, I no longer feel the sticky feeling if I smack my lips together. The color payoff for these products are amazing; I usually only do one layer and find that the color is perfect. I find that the colors do last pretty much all day long and I usually do not ever touch up during the day since I do not find the need too. They do wear off a bit if oily foods are being consumed. The one big downside to these products is that they are drying, after wearing for about an hour or two I notice that they will sink into the lines on my lips and they can start looking crusty (which is not cute). I tend to have dry lips so I usually do not like wearing lipsticks that are super drying but I just love these lipsticks for so many reasons that I still continue to wear them. Before wearing them I do try to exfoliate my lips/moisturize them so they do not look so crusty and it does help. Despite, the drying factor I do love these lipsticks and I know that I will continue to wear them since they are so affordable and the color payoff is so amazing.

Wet n’ Wild Megaglo Illuminating Palette Review

Besides contouring, the next biggest makeup trend that I have been following is highlighting. I mean, who doesn’t want to glow like a disco ball 24/7? I love the way that highlighters bring light to your face and I believe that a good highlighter puts the finishing touches to any makeup look. I have heard amazing things about Wet n’ Wild highlighters so when my RiteAid was having 40% off all Wet n’ Wild products I decided to get the Megaglo Illuminating Palette. This highlighter normally retails for $5, but I was able to get it for around $3 (which is crazy affordable since this highlighter is HUGE).

The Wet n’ Wild Megaglo Illuminating Palette comes with four shades and you can use them each separately or you can mix them together. When looking at the shades, I was super excited about the golden shades on the far left and right side since those are usually the type of highlighting colors I go for. I was a bit nervous about the darker pink shade as I was scared that it might come off too pink.

The highlighter itself is extremely pigmented, a little goes a long way. For the swatches they were all just one swipe of color and the color payoff is amazing. I absolutely love the fourth swatch on my arm (the nice golden color) it gives such a nice glow to my face without being extremely overwhelming. I am iffy about the deeper pink color as when I did try that color on my face it looked more like blush but too glittery for my liking. The other two colors are also nice as well, it gives a nice subtle glow without being overwhelming. I have tried mixing all four shades and it comes off as a pink highlighter (much lighter than the darker pink shade) but not really to my liking as I find that it is still too pink for me. I love using the shades alone or mixing the golden shades together to create a pretty glow. I do have to say that they do not last as long as some of the high-end highlighters I own; by the end of the night they are far less pigmented than when I first put them on. However, for such an affordable price and the fact that you practically get five shades (more if you mix two or three shades together), it is totally worth the purchase!

Colourpop Out & About Swatches

Colourpop came out with limited edition Ultra Lippie Sets for $15! There is three liquid lipsticks in there and normally for three liquid lipsticks it would be $18, but they are selling it for $15. I am a huge fan of Colourpop lipsticks because they have so many different colors and the Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks are so long lasting. There were three different sets; Can You Knot was full of darker shades perfect for fall, Up & Away was more reds and pinks and the last set Out & About was more purple and pink. I had a difficult time choosing the set that I wanted but I went with Out & About, because I felt like the colors were different than the ones I already owned. It came with two ultra-matte and one ultra-stain (I will be doing reviews on them!)

The packing was absolutely gorgeous, they came in a box with gold foil and their logo on it. Each of the lipsticks were individually packed in their own boxes (the types you see when you do order the lipsticks separately). The shades were Viper, Baracuda and Times Square.

From top to bottom: Times Square, Viper, Baracuda
  1. Times Square (Ultra Matte) is a muted pink beige shade. It has warm undertones and it looks a bit brighter in the tube than when actually applied. The formula was the usual colourpop formula, it dried mostly matte and there was pretty much little to no transfer of color. Like all the Ultra Matte, it is drying and does not feel too comfortable on the lips after a long time, although I did find that it was a bit sticky after I applied it which usually does not happen for the Ultra Mattes.
  2. Viper (Ultra Matte) is described as a dusty rose color and it looks more pink-red in the tube when I saw the images online but it looks more purple-pink in person.
  3. Baracuda (Ultra Stain) is described as a warm deepened rose color and it is has more red tones in it compared to Viper. Since it is an Ultra-Stain it was more comfortable to wear and felt way less drying, but there was color transfer and the color did not last as long compared to Ultra Mattes.

Colourpop color ranges always amaze me and they are also so affordable that I cannot help buying more of their lip products. I am planning to do a more in depth review of their lip products so that you guys can see the full comparison between the Ultra Matte and Ultra Stain collection.
