[Review] Revlon Colorstay Foundation

This is actually the first foundation I ever tired. It is for combination/oily skin which is something that I look for since I do have oily skin especially during the summer. I have heard many good things about this foundation so I decided to get it as my first ever foundation. I had a bit of a hard time picking out my color, but I got it in the shade 310 Warm Golden.

The picture on the left is what the bottle looks like and the picture on the right is how the color looks once it is out of the bottle. I found it a bit hard to get the foundation out especially since it does not have a pump.

Revlon Foundation Face

The picture on the left is before I put on any foundation. You can see the redness on my nose and my cheeks are a bit red and I have fine spidery lines on my cheeks as well. The picture on the right is after I put on one layer on foundation (that is the most foundation I put on). I like that it covers up the redness on my face and gives me a matte finish. It does cover the fine spidery lines on my cheeks. I did find that it took of time before it completely set but it did not feel heavy on my face.

Revlon Foundation face 8 hours

I wore the foundation for around 9 hours. The picture on the left is when I just put it on and the picture on the right is after 9 hours. i found that the foundation did stay put and my face generally looks the same (although due to the lighting, ,I look so much more tan on the picture on the right). I think that if I wore it next time, I may put on another layer because I do see some spots that were not covered well by the foundation but I do like how it covers up all the red marks on my face.

Pros:

  • Long lasting, the foundation does not budge and stays on my face for long periods of time
  • A very good color selection
  • Very good coverage and it is very build-able
  • Provides a matte finish
  • Does not transfer onto my clothes

Cons:

  • The foundation does not have a pump, and sometimes it is hard to pour the foundation out of the bottle

Overall, I am very happy with this foundation. I love how it covers the fine spidery lines on my face and I love how it lasts for a long period of time and how it provides a matte finish so I do not have to use any setting powder on top of it. I would definitely repurchase this in the future.

[Review]L’oreal Paris Pencil Perfect Self-Advancing Eyeliner

I normally use liquid eyeliner, however my friend got this eyeliner for me as a present. I am not use to using pencil eyeliners however I find that it is easier to use pencil eyeliners to get closer to the waterline in comparison to liquid eyeliner. The eyeliner is in the color ebony.

The picture on the left is what the eyeliner looks like and the picture on the right is swatches of the eyeliner. The top line is the eyeliner with about five strokes whereas the lower line is the eyeliner with just one stroke. The color payoff is very bold.

l'oreal water

Water Test: I know the eyeliner is not water proof but I wanted to see how it smudges. The picture on the left is the eyeliner when I ran my hand under water and the picture on the right is the eyeliner after I smudged it when it was wet.

l'oreal eye

The picture on the left is when I just put on the eyeliner and the picture on the right is after I had worn it for 8 hours, you can see the smudges on the corner of the eye. It is not apparent in the picture, however there was smudging on my eyelid as well.

Pros:

  • Very Affordable-it costs around $7-12 dollars at most drugstores
  • The color is very bold and just one stroke provides very good color payoff
  • It is very easy to use and I would say it is a good eyeliner for beginnings
  • It is fairly easy to remove-I was able to easily remove it with facial cleanser and water

Cons:

  • The eyeliner is not long lasting, after around 4 hours of wear I saw smudging especially around the corner of my eyes
  • The color seemed to fade over time and after a while the color was not as bold as it was when I put it on
  • It is hard to obtain fine lines since the tip is a bit blunt

Overall, I think that it is a good eyeliner for beginners to practice and start off with. However, I would not repurchase this product in the future because I dislike how it smudges after hours of wear and I do not like how I cannot make precise fine lines with this eyeliner. I think that this eyeliner would work best with people who have less oily eyelids, because with oily eyelids the eyeliner smudges very easily. It is also best worn  in the winter, especially because during the summer it smudges even faster.

[Review] Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner-Black

One of the makeup items that I wear on a daily basis is liquid eyeliner, so I am constantly on the hunt for a good liquid liner that is easy to put on and also does not smudge. I decided to give Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner a try, since I have heard good reviews about this product. I got the eyeliner in the color blackest black.

first

The first picture is what the brush looks like and the second picture is the swatches that I did on my hand. The first line is just one stroke and the second line is a couple of strokes on top of each other. I think that the color pay off is very good.

Water Test:

Water Large

I know that the eyeliner did not say that it was waterproof but I still wanted to see how it would smudge under water. The first picture is when I ran water over my hands, the eyeliner did not budge. However on the right is when I decided to smudge it with my finger after the eyeliner was wet.

before and after

The picture on the left is when I first put it on and the picture on the right is when I had worn it for nine hours. You can tell that the color did not fade over time and it did not smudge.

Pros:

  • Very Affordable-it costs around $6 to $10 dollars and it can be purchased at any drugstore
  • The color is very bold and it lasts for the whole day.
  • It is very easy to use and the brush was easy to control
  • It is fairly easy to remove-I was able to easily remove it with facial cleanser and water

Cons:

  • The eyeliner did smudge a bit at the corners of my eyes but it was not too obvious

Overall, I really enjoyed this eyeliner and I think that I would definitely repurchase this product because for its affordable price it works wonders. I would like to try this liquid eyeliner in the summer to see how it holds up with it is hotter out and I am sweating more, but for the colder weather this eye liner really does do the trick.
